Job Title: Kafka Application Architect

We are looking for an experienced Kafka Application Architect to assess, optimize, and operationalize an existing Apache Kafka platform. You will define governance standards, improve platform reliability, and support the technical team in maintaining a high-performance, secure, and scalable event-driven architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Assess and optimize the existing Kafka infrastructure and architecture.
• 
  Design and implement event-driven data flows using Apache Kafka.
• 
  Configure and optimize Kafka topics, partitions, retention policies, and data pipelines.
• 
  Evaluate and improve Kafka Connect architecture and monitoring.
• 
  Implement monitoring and alerting solutions using tools such as Grafana.
• 
  Develop troubleshooting procedures to ensure high availability and platform stability.
• 
  Secure data exchanges using TLS, SASL, and ACLs.
• 
  Document governance, operational procedures, and best practices.
• 
  Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to internal teams.

Requirements:

• 
  Expert knowledge of Apache Kafka (Broker, KRaft, Schema Registry).
• 
  Hands-on experience with Kafka Streams and Kafka Connect
• 
  Experience with containerized Kafka environments (e.g., Strimzi, Confluent).
• 
  Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• 
  Experience with Grafana and Ansible
• 
  Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or Apache Iceberg is a plus.
• 
  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• 
  Fluent in French, with good English and passive Dutch.
