About the Role:
As an Assistant Principal, you will work alongside the Principal and leadership team to oversee daily school operations, mentor teachers, and ensure every student has the support they need to excel in a virtual learning environment. You’ll also collaborate with key departments—including Enrollment, Technical Support, and HR—to streamline school functions.

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Staff Development
- Oversee the implementation of the Connections Academy curriculum and virtual learning protocols.
- Provide ongoing instructional coaching, mentorship, and professional development for teachers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative school culture through virtual events, recognitions, and staff engagement initiatives.
- Develop and lead systems that support teacher onboarding, MTSS, student onboarding, targeted interventions, and Written Student Learning Plans to ensure consistent support for students and staff.
Student Success & Family Engagement
- Ensure individualized academic support for students through proactive communication with teachers and parents.
- Assist in resolving student concerns and implementing intervention strategies.
- Work with families in need of additional support to increase engagement and success.
- Review and monitor enrollment flags and withdrawals to support compliance with school enrollment requirements.
School Operations & Compliance
- Support state standardized testing coordination to ensure high participation rates.
- Contribute to the school’s improvement plan and data-driven decision-making.
- Stay current on Washington state education policies, procedures, and legislation, specifically for ALE schools .
- Supervise and evaluate staff performance in alignment with state requirements.
- Handle escalated student issues and emergency situations as needed.
- Collaborate with school-support teams to create DataViews and compliance-related processes that support school needs, improve access to key information, and ensure alignment with required processes.
Community Outreach & Recruitment
- Represent WACA in student recruitment efforts, including virtual and in-person events.
- Support marketing and outreach efforts to build awareness and engagement.
What You Bring:
- Passion for student success and a commitment to educational excellence.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teachers in an online or in-person setting.
- Tech-savviness and proficiency in virtual learning tools (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and educational platforms).
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities—both with families and staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative learning environment.
- Experience and knowledge working with intervention programs and reading instruction, ideally in primary grades
Required Qualifications:
- Washington Administrative License (Required)
- Must reside within Washington
- Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field
- 3+ years of teaching experience (K-8 preferred)
- Leadership/Management experience in an educational setting
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting
- Willingness to travel for state testing, marketing, school events, and leadership conferences (will require overnight travel)
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication
Compensation & Perks:
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 (based on experience & education)
