Examples of duties

This position supports the rehabilitation and social development of adjudicated youth through supervision, counseling, and structured guidance. The role promotes safety, growth, and responsible behavior in all daily activities. As a Juvenile Justice Specialist Supervisor, DHS, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Oversight: Maintain constant supervision to ensure a safe environment and prevent harmful behaviors
  • Resident Supervision: Escort and monitor residents during activities, appointments, and visits on and off grounds
  • Behavior Guidance: Provide instruction that supports pro-social behavior, daily competencies, and responsible decision-making
  • Case Management: Develop and update treatment plans through assessment, counseling, communication, and coordination with families and agencies
  • Documentation Duties: Prepare reports, record progress, and maintain required paperwork and data submissions
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the treatment team, participate in meetings, and support programs that enhance resident development

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • This position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays. The 8-hour shifts normally consist of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with no duty-free lunch. You will have a 5-day work week with 2 regular days off. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Voluntary and mandatory overtime and travel as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,093.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Juvenile Justice Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
  • Three years of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; or
  • One year of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; and an associate’s degree in social sciences, counseling, restorative justice, juvenile justice, child development, behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to this location in Danville PA, Montour County.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
