Upon yearly anniversary, 56 hours of sick time accrued, less usage, may be rolled over to vacation time.
This position is shift work. Juvenile Detention has four (4) shifts 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am and a hybrid shift.
Shift are decided at time of offer by hiring manager based on needs of the department.
Some positions are eligible for Evening or Night Shift Differential.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is a classified position that reports to a Supervisor, Juvenile Detention. The incumbent performs duties under general supervision and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age,
Must be a United States citizen or have legal resident status, and
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. certificate.
Licenses and Certificates:
A valid Arizona Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work experience utilizing communication skills with youth ages 16-24.
Prior customer service work experience.
Prior work experience with adolescent youth.
A minimum of one (1) year of verifiable work experience.
Demonstrated career progression.
Important Notice Regarding Multiple Applications:
Once a candidate formally accepts a job offer with Superior Court, Juvenile Court, or Justice Court (Tucson and Ajo), all other active applications within these courts will be inactivated.
Physical/Sensory Items:
Typically performs duties in a secure institution and may lift a detainee, materials, or equipment of 50 lbs or less. Incumbents are required to stand and walk for at least half of their scheduled work shift and physically required to bend, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stoop.
All candidates must successfully pass:
Background investigation,
Psychological evaluation,
Drug screening (urinalysis), Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Pre-Employment Certification of physical fitness for duty.
*The physical certification is determined by a physician in a medical office setting.
