Join the Cumberland County Justice Services team and play a vital role in strengthening our community through collaboration, innovation, and effective juvenile justice programming. As the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) Coordinator, you will serve as the primary liaison supporting the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council by coordinating initiatives that promote positive outcomes for youth and enhance public safety.

In this role, you will work closely with County leadership, the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (NCDJJDP), community partners, service providers, and citizens to administer and support juvenile crime prevention programs. You will provide technical assistance, facilitate communication among stakeholders, and help ensure programs are effectively implemented and aligned with local needs. Examples of duties

  • Coordinates departmental and JCPC activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Serves as the primary staff liaison to the JCPC, coordinating meetings, agendas, materials, logistics, and member support.
  • Maintains official JCPC records, meeting documentation, files, and related administrative records.
  • Monitors departmental and JCPC budgets, processes invoices and payment requests, and maintains financial documentation.
  • Assists with procurement, contracts, budget development and revisions, financial reporting, and grant compliance.
  • Monitors contracted programs for compliance with state-authorized agreements, performance standards, and funding requirements.
  • Assists with program evaluations and site visits; collects, analyzes, and reports juvenile justice and program outcome data.
  • Prepares monthly, annual, and special reports for the department, JCPC, County leadership, and state agencies.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with community organizations, service providers, schools, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to support justice-involved youth and families.
  • Develop and participate in youth community events.
  • Supports public outreach, resource development, funding initiatives, information requests, professional development, and general departmental administration.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major/degree in a human services or administrative field and two (2) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

In accordance with Session Law 2025-16, candidates selected for positions involving work with children in any capacity will be required to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. If your driver's license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.

Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment. Refusal to submit to testing or testing positive for prohibited substances will result in the withdrawal of the conditional employment offer.
