PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for guiding participating students to achieve a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship and citizenship. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the recruitment and promotion of the district's Junior Valkyries (Grades 5-8) synchronized swimming program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

  1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  2. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  4. Conducts recruiting efforts for the Valkyries synchronized swimming program district wide.
  5. Plans and communicates rehearsal schedules and development strategies with all invested parties, ensuring the health, physical well-being, and success of participating students.
  6. Coordinates fundraisers, activity account deposits and distributions of funds in accordance with Board Policy.
  7. Manages the distribution and collection of JR Valkyries inventory.
  8. Properly supervises JR Valkyries students during activities and events.
  9. Models/instills values of collaboration, citizenship, artistic intent and integrity.
  10. Assists and guides participating RPS 205 elementary and middle school students in the Junior Valkyries program to achieve an elevated level of skill, discipline, and citizenship.
  11. Choreograph a minimum of one synchronized swimming routine for JR Valkyries to perform at the annual show, collaborating with HS Valkyries advisors on theme, music, design, and production for annual show.
  12. Leads all JR Valkyries rehearsals, tech., dress, and show week performances.

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience coaching or participating in a synchronized swimming program is preferred.

WORK CALENDAR: Season is October through March.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

Moderate in-district travel.
