Company Description

Who is Senior Aerospace Bird Bellows?

Based in Congleton, Cheshire, Senior Bird Bellows was established in 1975 as a family run operation serving the petro-chemical and gas industries. Since then, we have evolved to become one of the industry leaders in the design, development and manufacture of pressure duct systems, flexible joints and insulation for highly regulated industries. We have established customers in aerospace (both civil and military), as well as in the nuclear, oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Job Description

Are you looking to broaden your engineering experience, develop new technical skills, and play a key role in shaping how we manufacture world-class aerospace products?

We are looking for a Junior Tooling Design Engineer to join our Tooling Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop their career, and gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines within our business.

Whether you're currently working in Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Quality, or another technical role, this position offers the chance to build your expertise in tooling design, CAD, problem-solving, and project delivery while working alongside experienced engineers who will support your development.

As a Junior Tooling Design Engineer, you will support the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and associated equipment used throughout our manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes.

Working as part of the Tooling Engineering team, you will contribute to both new product introduction projects and the optimisation of existing manufacturing processes. You will gain hands-on experience in tooling design while developing a strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards, engineering best practice, and continuous improvement methodologies.

This role offers genuine development opportunities and exposure to cross-functional working with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Welding Engineering teams.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual who is eager to develop their career within engineering and tooling design. This opportunity would suit someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively with others, and finding ways to improve processes and performance.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications, together with knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures within a manufacturing environment. Experience of working with CAD software and an appreciation of health and safety requirements are essential, along with a recognised engineering qualification at NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or Apprenticeship equivalent.

Just as importantly, we are seeking someone who demonstrates the behaviours and potential to grow within the role. You will be organised, proactive and capable of managing your own workload while contributing effectively as part of a team. Strong communication skills, sound decision-making abilities, and a flexible approach to changing priorities are key to success.

We are looking for an individual who takes ownership, leads by example, and is committed to delivering high-quality results while continuously learning and developing.

Additional Information

We offer a supportive and rewarding work environment that values your wellbeing and work-life balance. Enjoy the benefits of a 4-day working week, giving you more time for what matters most. We also provide an excellent pension scheme, life assurance, and access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Our team regularly takes part in social and wellbeing events, helping you stay connected, supported, and engaged both in and outside of work.
