The successful candidate will support the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced spaceflight systems while working alongside experienced engineers and our commercial spaceflight partners. Our team is positioned to contribute to the future of space exploration, with opportunities to support a variety of commercial space programs involving NASA, Intuitive Machines, Axiom Space, Lockheed Martin, and others.

Responsibilities

The Junior Systems Engineer will:

  • Apply engineering principles and techniques to requirements validation, product development, product integration, requirements verification, system validation, and hardware/software product deployment
  • Perform concept trade studies, requirements management, test & verification, and modeling an analysis as required
  • Create and/or evaluate designs to ensure they meet customer satisfaction and engineering principles
  • Establish and lead working relationships with customer counterparts, requirement owners, and commercial teammates' key personnel to promote mission success
  • Support engineering activities such as requirements identification, development, verification, and tracking
  • Develop processes and strategies to support cross-functional teams supporting spacecraft engineering or operations
  • Provide technical systems knowledge during major project milestones and project reviews
  • Perform all other assigned duties

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus zero (0) to five (5) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of space systems
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-discipline engineering teams
  • Knowledge of engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Preferences:

  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs, including internships
  • MS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school
  • INCOSE Certification
  • Experience with requirement development, decomposition, documentation, and review
  • Project management or other leadership experience
  • Experience developing technical documentation
  • Working experience with product life-cycle management software, JIRA or similar
  • Working experience with systems engineering tools, such as DOORs, MagicDraw, JAMA, or similar

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
