Junior Statistician / Econometrician for the Credit Risk Team

The opportunity

In the consulting services team specializing in credit risk, we primarily assist large banks and insurance companies with systems managing credit risk. We also participate in improving credit risk management processes, help with the development and validation of models, conduct stress testing, calculate capital adequacy, analyze the impact of new regulations, and many other areas.

Your main role will be active participation in projects, particularly related to the analysis of financial or other data, performing statistical tests, creating interactive outputs in various software, and subsequently communicating the results to the project team.

The outputs of your work will be part of the final deliverables for the client, and you will be a full-fledged member of the team right from the start. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that involve rapidly evolving and trending topics, such as intelligent automation and machine learning. We will give you the chance to be involved in projects that are transforming large financial institutions for the better.

Our clients are global financial groups operating in Central Europe, the USA, and other regions of the world; however, most projects will be carried out from Bratislava.

Your key responsibilities

• Analysis of financial and other data
• Developing and validating statistical models, particularly logistic regression, classification trees, and other machine learning methods
• Working with data, evaluating statistical tests, and applying advanced statistical methods
• Working on client projects
• Communicating results to colleagues/clients
• Creating final outputs in software
• Working with programs Python, R, SAS, and SQL

Skills and attributes for success

• University education in the field of mathematics, statistics, or econometrics
• Knowledge of statistical and quantitative methods (regression techniques, time series, clustering, data mining)
• Basic programming experience (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SQL)
• Analytical thinking
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365
• Communication skills, attention to detail, responsibility, and proactivity
• Excellent knowledge of the Slovak and English language (on some projects, all communication is conducted in English)
