The Junior Software Developer will play an active role in supporting the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications. Working closely under the supervision and mentorship of development managers, architects, and senior developers, this role provides hands-on exposure to the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will assist in writing clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and system performance. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn technologies, gain practical experience, and build a strong foundation for a long-term career in software development.

Job Responsibility:

• Configuration-Based Development – Develop extensible and reusable code that can be applied throughout our enterprise software
• Front-End Development – Create user-facing components and interfaces while following existing theming and branding, as well as following responsive and accessible design.
• Back-End Development – Create scalable and secure back-end APIs, while following security best practices defined by our organization
• Database Development – Implement and provide feedback on database designs and schema changes while ensuring data integrity and cleanliness
• Peer Review - Participate in, and follow, review of changes to relevant parts of the system in order to become familiar with existing coding standards and changes to our products
• Self-Learning - Keep up-to-date with the latest software updates and trends to explore and implement new features to enhance the overall Deighton software experience.
• Documentation and Testing – Ensure that all development is documented, and tested where required

Skill Requirements

• Experience with front-end technologies - HTML, CSS + SASS, Typescript, Angular.
• Experience with back-end technologies, specifically C# .NET
• Experience with front-end design frameworks such as Material Design.
• Experience with Database Management Systems (DBMS), preferably Microsoft SQL Server or MongoDB.

Nice to have

• Experience with an API querying protocol, such as OData or GraphQL
• Experience with Jest Testing Framework
• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems
