
The key responsibilities of this job are conducting home visits to assess living conditions, evaluate family dynamics, and identify potential risks or needs within the home environment; the provision of counselling/therapy sessions to participants who are referred from various studies for mental health and psychosocial related matters (such as domestic violence, sexual assault, child neglect, suicide ideation etc), and case management (documentation and reporting) of potential social harm of the participants.
of Duties:
The incumbent will ensure ethical standards accordance with Good Clinical Practice, SOPs and departmental requirements while working with participants. Furthermore, the incumbent will be required to develop and maintain strategic relationships within the AHRI departments and the Hlabisa Sub-district health and social welfare service providers for the purposes of smooth referral of social welfare cases. The position will be based at Somkhele site. Given that participant protection department serve both Durban and Somkhele Campus, the incumbent will be required to be flexible for both sites should the need arise.
Minimum Requirements
1. Holds a Social Work degree
2. Valid driver’s License and experience in driving for longer than 1 year.
3. Computer Literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
4. Fluency in speaking and writing IsiZulu and English.
5. Registered under the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
6. At least 5 years’ experience in counselling/therapy intervention.
7. Previous experience working in rural communities.
8. Knowledge in GCP will add as an advantage.
