Job Description

St. Joseph Parish, located in Cockeysville, MD seeks candidates for a Junior Sacristan. The Sacristan is responsible for the coordination of the sacristy during weekend liturgical celebrations, including preparation of vessels, vestments, church furnishings, objects and supplies. This is an hourly position, including Saturdays and Sundays. Sacristans report to the Associate Pastor. The weekly hours are 2 to 4 hours per week.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate preparation for weekend Masses, including weddings, baptisms, and quinceañeras as scheduled.
  • Maintains good order in the sacristy.
  • Reports any candle or supply needs to the appropriate staff.
  • Reports any maintenance needs to the appropriate staff.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 14 years old, able to obtain work permit.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with The Church.
  • Knowledge of parts of the Mass or willingness to learn and be an integral part of the Mass.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to project a courteous, warm, and welcoming image.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Pay Rate: $15.00, Hourly
