At Kirby Group Engineering, we're looking for ambitious Graduate and Junior Quantity Surveyors with a genuine interest in construction, commercial management, and delivering complex engineering projects. What You'll Be Doing
As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the commercial team in managing project costs, contracts, valuations, and client relationships while building a strong foundation in commercial project delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with project and planning teams to assess project progress and commercial performance.
  • Assisting with the identification, preparation, and evaluation of variations and contract changes.
  • Supporting the preparation, submission, and follow-up of interim and final accounts.
  • Assisting with claims management and supporting commercial negotiations where required.
  • Ensuring payment certificates are prepared and issued in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records, including claims, certificates, variations, and retention accounts.
  • Monitoring retention payments and supporting recovery as they become due.
  • Assisting with client and stakeholder engagement on commercial matters.
  • Developing an understanding of contract terms, client obligations, and commercial risk management.
  • Ensuring all completed work is correctly recorded and captured under the appropriate commercial categories.
  • Supporting the identification and evaluation of labour, material, and cost escalations.
  • Producing detailed commercial reports for project and senior management teams.
What We're Looking For
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in the construction and engineering sector.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
