Job Description

The principal purpose of the Junior Quantity Surveyor position is to support the accurate estimation, cost control, and financial management of construction projects. The major objective is to ensure projects are completed within budget, providing value for money while maintaining quality and compliance with contract terms.

Requirements

  • Understand the commercial terms and conditions (T&C) from the sales team/or contract.
  • Promote commercial and contractual awareness amongst the project teams as per T&C.
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks from the Clients and Subcontractors.
  • Support administrating and monitoring the commercial performance targets and reporting.
  • Update the project actuals VS budgets through working proactively with the project teams to ensure the commercial performance targets are met.
  • Prepare the sales invoice to the clients on time with the accounts receivable as per the T&C.
  • Support implementation of the procurement/supply chain approach and strategic partnerships
  • Assist the procurement team to source the cost-effective resources (material, equipment & contractor).
  • Assist with preconstruction and estimating activities including measuring and BoQ production.
  • Review subcontractor claims and project variations.
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
  • Give feedback to the project team on the commercial related to the sales invoice and the cost.
  • Maintain lessons learnt from previous projects to best inform future pricing.
  • Attend site for the Client’s meeting, site walkdown or work inspections.
  • Maintain positive professional relationship with clients and supply chain.
  • Assist in informing procedural improvements or efficiencies on an ongoing basis.
  • Proactively engage with knowledge sharing activities.
  • Assist in any other duties which may encompass the role.

Qualifications

  • Third-level degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working across multiple projects and/or sites.
  • Contracting services experience.
  • M&E contractor experience would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of NEC and FIDIC contracts would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy sector would be an advantage.
