Southern Mechanical Nashville is looking for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Junior Project Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in mechanical construction, specifically plumbing and HVAC.
The ideal candidate will work closely with senior project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to help coordinate projects from planning through completion. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a desire to learn and grow within the mechanical contracting industry.

What You'll Do
- Assist project managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of plumbing and HVAC construction projects
- Help monitor project schedules, budgets, labor, materials, and overall progress
- Coordinate with field supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors
- Review project plans, specifications, submittals, and construction drawings
- Assist with material takeoffs, purchasing, equipment orders, and delivery scheduling
- Track RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, submittals, and other project documentation
- Attend project meetings and communicate updates regarding schedules, progress, and outstanding issues
- Help identify potential project delays, material shortages, and coordination issues
- Assist with job costing, progress billing, and budget tracking
- Perform site visits to monitor progress, verify field conditions, and support project teams
- Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
- Support quality control, safety compliance, and project closeout activities
- Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal team members
What You'll Bring
- Experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical construction, or the commercial construction industry is preferred
- Previous experience as a project coordinator, assistant project manager, field coordinator, or in a similar role is a plus
- Basic understanding of plumbing and HVAC systems, construction drawings, and project workflows
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other standard office applications
- Ability to work collaboratively with office personnel and field teams
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and accept additional responsibilities as experience grows
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites as needed
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with commercial plumbing and HVAC projects
- Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge of project scheduling, material procurement, change orders, and job costing
- Experience with construction management software is a plus
