Job Description

Junior Product Owner (m/w/d)

In Germany - Berlin

We are looking for a motivated and curious Junior Product Owner who is excited to contribute to the evolution of our next-generation pricing solutions. In this role, you will learn to translate complex business challenges into clear product requirements and scalable features within our SaaS applications. Working closely with experienced Product Managers, Product Owners, clients, and technical teams, you will contribute to the product development and release lifecycle — from understanding user needs and defining problem statements to backlog refinement, delivery, and post-release validation. You will have the opportunity to develop your product skills while helping us build solutions that create measurable value for our clients.

Simon-Kucher is at the forefront of innovation in our space, inventing business models, algorithms, solutions, and methodologies for unlocking better growth of our clients. And Simon-Kucher Engine’s digital end-to-end solutions deliver sustained top-line impact for our clients. Are you interested in working in a team of digital evangelists with a can-do attitude? Want to experience the dynamics of agile processes in open-minded teams? How about getting creative in a startup atmosphere with a steep development curve and flat hierarchies? And most importantly, do you want to make a difference? Then you've come to the right place.

This is a hybrid position with flexible time split between working in our Berlin office and remote working.

What makes us special:

  • Advance your career with exciting professional opportunities in our thriving company with a startup feel.
  • Add to your experience with our projects that focus on growth, have a positive impact, and truly matter.
  • Voice your unique ideas in a corporate culture defined by our entrepreneurial spirit, openness, and integrity.
  • Feel at home working with our helpful, enthusiastic colleagues who have great team spirit.
  • Broaden your perspective with our extensive training curriculum and learning programs (e.g. LinkedIn Learning).
  • Speak your mind in our holistic feedback and development processes (e.g. 360-degree feedback).
  • Satisfy your need for adventure with our opportunities to live and work abroad in one of our many international offices.
  • Enjoy our benefits, such as hybrid working, daycare allowance, corporate discounts, and wellbeing support (e.g. Headspace).
  • Unwind in our break areas where you can help yourself to the healthy snacks and beverages provided.
  • See another side of your coworkers at our frequent employee events and highly anticipated World Meeting and Holiday Party.

How you will create an impact:

  • Support the translation of business needs into clear and actionable specifications, such as epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows. Learn to balance product strategy, user needs, and technical constraints and ensure requirements are clearly understood by the relevant teams.
  • Support the Product Manager in defining clear sprint and release goals and help communicate priorities and expectations across the relevant teams.
  • Support the day-to-day product delivery process to help ensure that each sprint delivers meaningful value. Work closely with the development team to clarify requirements, help identify and resolve roadblocks, and facilitate collaboration across teams.
  • Review completed work together with the relevant teams and support the acceptance process by checking whether functionality meets the agreed acceptance criteria and quality standards.
  • Support the coordination of non-technical release activities, working with teams such as Engineering, Operations, Delivery, and Support to help ensure smooth and successful releases.
  • Help maintain and continuously improve product documentation, including technical documentation, user guides, release notes, and marketing materials.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product and development process by using user feedback, product usage data, and market insights to identify improvements, enhance the user experience, and uncover new opportunities.
  • Previous experience with product management, agile methodologies, or SaaS products is a plus.

About you:

  • You hold a master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, data science or analytics or a related subject.
  • You have your first practical experience in Product Ownership, Software Development, or Scrum, ideally gained in a real-world environment.
  • You are eager to learn about the latest technology trends and digital topics, such as cloud technologies, app development, and AI concepts, and you do not shy away from trying out new technologies yourself.
  • You are interested in working in agile environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and have a basic understanding of how products are developed and delivered in iterative ways.
  • You are eager to learn how to translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and how to support the prioritization of a product backlog.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and enjoy breaking down complex challenges into simple, actionable solutions.
  • You are curious about digital products and technology and are motivated to turn business needs into practical digital solutions.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working with different stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and technical teams.
  • You have a basic technical understanding or a strong interest in software development and are eager to learn how to communicate effectively with Software Engineering teams.
  • You are fluent in English. German or other languages are a strong advantage.
  • Previous experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Agile, or SaaS is a plus.
