We are an organisation that exists to drive progress. That's the “red thread” that connects everyone at The Economist Group (TEG). Our businesses share a devotion to innovation, independence and rigour in their fields of expertise. We empower people to understand and tackle the critical challenges and changes facing the world. Our analytical rigour, global expertise and evidence-based insights enable individuals and organisations to make sense of these shifts and chart a course through them.
We deliver analysis and insights in many formats to subscribers and businesses in 170 countries through our three businesses, The Economist, Economist Enterprise and Economist Education, which uphold our global reputation for excellence and integrity.
The Economist is the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. We deliver world-class, thought provoking content through a range of formats, from web and app, to newspapers and magazines, conferences, film and audio. What ties us together is the objectivity of our opinion, the originality of our insight and our advocacy of economic and political freedom around the world.
With a growing global subscriber base and a reputation for insightful analysis and opinion on every aspect of world affairs, The Economist is one of the most widely recognised and well-read current affairs publications and the foundation of our digital consumer product portfolio. We are developing a world-class product and design organisation and have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Product Designer based in London to help us design exceptional web and mobile app experiences that drive subscriber acquisition and retention.
The role
We are looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our e-commerce and subscriptions product area, with a focus on helping us improve acquisition and retention. You'll be part of teams that are helping to drive anonymous users to register, converting non-subscribers to paid subscribers, optimising checkout flows and encouraging self-serve account management.
You'll work in cross-functional teams of Engineers and Product Managers, with support from more Senior Product Designers. You'll produce end-to-end user experiences and create design deliverables ready for engineering. Your work will uphold The Economist brand digitally, maintaining our high bar of visual quality whilst ensuring technical constraints are considered to create intuitive user flows.
You'll be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience across different parts of the design process; for instance sketching, creating prototypes and working through different levels of fidelity. From user research to wireframes and user flows through to testing and validation—you'll develop into a rounded product designer with coaching and guidance from more senior members of the design team.
You'll be supported by a friendly and inclusive design team who have the autonomy to define and improve processes and care deeply about developing each other's capabilities.
