In this junior procurement specialist role, you will support carrier procurement, rate negotiations and the optimisation of our procurement strategy. You will closely monitor market developments, capacity and rate fluctuations, translating these insights into clear analyses and reports in Excel. You will also contribute to local and international tenders, monitor carrier performance and ensure compliance with contractual agreements. Smart procurement decisions, strong carrier relationships and sustainable results: You’re on it.

How you do this By working closely with colleagues and external partners, identifying market opportunities and turning insights into concrete actions. You take initiative, contribute ideas for improvement and have the opportunity to further develop your procurement knowledge. You achieve this by:

• managing and maintaining local and central procurement rates in our pricing systems and Excel spreadsheets;
• supporting tenders and preparing competitive pricing proposals in collaboration with our Tender team;
• monitoring our allocation agreements with shipping lines and internally, ensuring proper follow-up;
• working closely with colleagues across various departments, including Sales, Operations and Pricing, as well as our international DSV offices;
• preparing for and participating in local carrier meetings, including discussions on rates, capacity and operational performance;
• actively monitoring market developments and identifying commercial opportunities.

You bring

• an eager, enthusiastic and energetic approach to your work;
• a commercial mindset, a collaborative attitude and a strong focus on customer needs;
• strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to use Excel to translate rates and data into clear reports and meaningful insights;
• knowledge of ocean freight or experience in a similar role is an advantage;
• good written and spoken communication skills in both Dutch (B2 level) and English;
• a curious and critical mindset, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge existing ways of working and identify opportunities to make processes smarter, more efficient and effective.

• flexible working hours, a 32- or 36-hour workweek is also possible in this role;
