Job Description

Junior Planner


We are currently strengthening our team by recruiting a Junior Planner to support global industrial projects. The role is part of the Project Controls & Analytics function within an Engineering & Construction environment, focused on delivering large-scale, low-carbon industrial projects.

The selected candidate will be based in Portugal and integrated into a dynamic and multicultural team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and analyse project schedules.
  • Perform planning and scheduling activities across the full project lifecycle, from development to delivery.
  • Review and analyse contractor and supplier schedules.
  • Conduct time impact analysis, delay analysis, and support extension of time claims.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Project Management teams.
  • Evaluate planning procedures and propose improvements.
  • Apply standard planning methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Ensure schedule accuracy and consistency of project data.
  • Coordinate planning activities, meetings, and reporting.
  • Perform baseline tracking, what-if analysis, and contingency planning.
  • Support planning of fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities.

Reporting & Controls

Prepare and maintain reports including:

  • Baseline data (planned dates, progress, manhours/units)
  • Actual performance data (progress, earned values)
  • Forecast data (dates, resources)
  • Schedule Performance Index (SPI)
  • Cost Performance Index (CPI)
  • Milestone Trend Analysis (MTA)
  • Project KPIs
  • S-curves (progress and manhours)
  • Critical path analysis
  • Short-term lookahead schedules




Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience in sectors such as Power, Oil & Gas, Refining, or Petrochemical (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Availability for international travel (short and medium term)
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
