Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • You are required to familiarize yourself with the relevant policies and procedures within your department as well as the company as a whole
  • You are responsible to instruct, oversee and supervise the completion of tasks assigned to drivers and assistants (loading etc.)
  • Assist, when necessary, with the updating and implementation of logistic policies and procedures
  • Assist with induction of new staff members and ensuring all policies and procedures are understood
  • Assist in identifying training needs of new as well as existing employees.
  • · Safety audits are conducted regularly on all facets and report discrepancies to supervisors asap.
  • Reporting on Safety is done accurately and timeously according to Company Procedure & Standard.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are cleaned and report on irregularities.
  • Ensure that housekeeping register is up to date daily.
  • Documents are collected and checked when delivery is complete.
  • Assist with ensuring Pre-trip inspections are carried out properly and report on noticeable issues.
  • Verify and document returns from vehicles and report back to supervisors.
  • Reason codes needs to be documented.
  • Re-deliveries needs to be reported to supervisors.
  • Policies and procedures which relate to day-to-day operational activities are developed and maintained.
  • Administration & Keeping records
  • Ensure that key register is signed daily.
  • Employee register updated daily, and absent employees are recorded Comply with company code of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Company code of conduct, policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Company Health and safety rules are followed Performance Management and operations
  • Measuring performance according to standards as per instruction from supervisors
  • Ensure employee cooperativeness
  • Loading of beds are done correctly to reduced damages
  • Make decisions and ensure problems are solved when required
  • Communicating with people regularly and motivating your team
  • Ancillary duties requested by supervisors are carried out as instructed
  • Diplomacy, respect, sensitivity and self-control is maintained in all interactions with colleagues in own and other departments
  • You must ensure pro-active communication with dispatch to ease products and information flow
  • You are required to complete general admin and participate actively in logistics oversight
  • Serve as a point of contact between drivers and/or assistants to resolve burning issues
  • Ensure that drivers and assistants comply with PPE requirements and dress codes
  • Control of vehicle keys and key drop box
  • Issue of sugar, tea and other essentials as required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Logistics / Supply Chain or Transport
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Logisitcs Supervisor
  • Must have experience with Briefing and Debreifing
  • Drivers Must have expereince with conducting Vehicle Safety checks / Pre-Trip Inspections
