One-Year Full-time, Fixed-term Contract | 9:45 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Crofton House School is seeking a BC-certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our Junior School team for a one-year leave replacement.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early-career ECE looking to gain experience in a vibrant independent school environment, working alongside a dedicated team of experienced educators in our state-of-the-art Junior School facilities. This is a term-time position, following the school calendar.

About the Role

This position has two distinct components:

9:45am - 3:30pm | Junior Kindergarten Assistant

Work alongside the Junior Kindergarten teaching team to support a play-based, girl-centred learning environment. Responsibilities include supporting classroom activities, individual students, transitions, lunch and outdoor play, and helping to maintain an engaging, well-organized learning environment.

3:30pm - 5:45pm | After School Care Educator

Lead our after-school care program, planning and facilitating engaging activities while providing a warm, safe and welcoming environment for young students.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team of early childhood educators
  • Support ECE students in a variety of activities that facilitate a play-based approach to learning
  • Support individual children as required
  • Plan and implement an after school care program for young girls
  • Supervise children at lunch and at play outside
  • Take initiative to seek out tasks
  • Prepare instructional materials and classroom visual displays
  • Ensure space is set-up for learning and left clean and organized
  • Participate in school events such as Sports Day and ECE concerts

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid BC issued Early Childhood Educator Certificate (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience as an early childhood educator an asset
  • Awareness of the learning styles of young girls
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Capacity to be creative, flexible, and patient
  • Strong communication skills
  • Dedicated attention to the care and safety of young children
  • Commitment to the integration of school routines and learning in a childcare setting
  • Highly organised with attention to detail

Compensation: Annual salary $50,000 - $52,000
