Doman Building Materials is an exciting place to work! We are on a mission to create easy-to-use training materials for our employees and are looking for a Junior Instructional Designer to join our Human Resources team in Vancouver.

As a Junior Instructional Designer, you will put your writing skills, creative flair, and technical savvy to work. You’ll collaborate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to transform their knowledge into engaging online training and supplementary learning materials.

You will be an integral part of the creation, development and management of our training content. If you have a knack for simplifying complex information and communicating effectively to diverse audiences, this role is for you!

ABOUT YOU

You can build and maintain relationships with Managers and SMEs. You are confident in your skills to develop creative and engaging training content, translate technical documentation to user friendly language, and are comfortable with technology and digital platforms. You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and can swiftly address shifting priorities across multiple projects.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Support administration of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Follow style guides, brand guidelines, templates, and standards for format and style
  • Write outlines, learner profiles, scripts, and storyboards
  • Collaborate with SMEs and assist in research and analysis of learning needs
  • Develop engaging content in various media formats (graphics, video, audio, written, interactive)
  • Assist in creative and technical problem-solving and design ideation
  • Develop French-language content with assistance from a remote translator
  • Create campaigns via email and intranet to promote training opportunities
  • Record voiceovers and coordinate French voiceover requests
  • Support HR activities related to the employee training lifecycle as needed

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 2 or more years of experience in developing training content for a diverse workforce
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working with ADDIE or SAM instructional design models
  • Experience supporting or managing a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities
  • Strong relationship-building skills, and communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of duties and responsibilities

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT ARE GOOD TO HAVE

  • Video production, animation, motion design, and video editing
  • Adobe creative Cloud suite, Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline), Microsoft 365
  • Animation and motion design experience is an asset
  • Understanding of SCORM
  • Experience developing compliance or safety training
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • The typical hiring range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
