Job Description

Our client is seeking a Junior Health & Safety Officer to join their team on a multi-year infrastructure project based in Roscommon The project is expected to run for three years, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to develop within a Tier 1 construction environment. The successful candidate will support the implementation of health and safety procedures across the site and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards.

To be successful in this role, the preferred candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role within the construction or civil engineering sector, with strong communication and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of site health & safety policies.
2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
3. Support the development of risk assessments and method statements.
4. Promote a positive safety culture across all site teams and subcontractors.
5. Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, and corrective actions.
6. Ensure all personnel are inducted and trained in relevant safety procedures.
7. Liaise with site management to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
8. Assist in accident and incident investigations and reporting.
9. Stay up to date with health & safety legislation and best practices.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health & safety role within construction or civils.
2. Relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g. Diploma, Degree, or equivalent).
3. Strong understanding of Irish health & safety regulations.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a site team.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
