The Junior Hardware Sustainment Specialist supports sustaining engineering activities within the Hardware Maintenance team for electrical and electromechanical building automation products. This role assists with lifecycle tracking, troubleshooting, validation testing, documentation updates, and manufacturing support under supervision. The position develops foundational knowledge of electronic circuits, mechanical assemblies, compliance requirements, and manufacturing processes while contributing to failure investigations and component substitutions across product lines.

Duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support sustaining engineering activities for electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Execute validation test procedures for component substitutions and design updates.
  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware failures in manufacturing and field-returned units.
  • Collect data, reproduce issues, and document findings during investigations.
  • Update documentation, schematics, and BOM records in PLM/ERP systems.
  • Support lifecycle and obsolescence tracking activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
  • Follow established safety and compliance practices during testing activities.

Required skills and abilities

  • Foundational understanding of analog and digital circuit principles.
  • Basic understanding of electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with standard lab equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Experience with PLM/ERP systems.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes.
  • Basic scripting knowledge for test automation.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Technology diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, or related discipline, or equivalent education, training, and/or experience.

Work Location: In-office environment that is currently 3 days per week

Type: full-time, Permanent
Salary: 65,000 - 80,000 CAD

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
