TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm is a private par-70, 7,107-yard championship golf course located in Potomac MD, just under 20 miles from the White House. The Club has hosted over 20 championships for the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and the Korn Ferry Tour since opening in 1986. The Junior Golf Course Associate is an entry-level position that has been trained to perform specific tasks relative to the landscape operations of the Golf Course Maintenance Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in High School

• The ability to understand and follow directions

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Perform routine landscape operations activities as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance

• Operations, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent I, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent II or Landscape Foreman

• Be thoroughly trained in the proper procedures required to perform each task before performing each task. Follow the guidelines in the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual for each specific task

• Perform specific tasks relative to Landscape Gardener I, including:

  • Sod Laying

  • Blower Operations

  • Vacuum operations

  • Manual weeding

  • Hand tool operations

  • Mulch distribution

• Required to wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Position is very active and requires lifting, pulling or pushing up to or over 50 pounds, moving and/or lift items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

An essential function of the job is to be able to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
