We are looking for a Junior GIS Consultant / Developer to support the integration and development of GIS functionalities across multiple applications. You will contribute to building geospatial solutions that enable mapping, data visualization, and geo web services to support both internal and external users.
In this role, you will work within a digital innovation environment focused on nature management, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Integrate GIS functionalities into a wide range of applications
Develop and support geospatial data visualization using digital maps
Design and maintain geo web services
Define and structure geospatial data layers based on business requirements
Conduct business analysis for GIS implementation and integration
Support spatial analysis and geoprocessing activities
Assist in designing geodatabases and ensuring data quality
Translate functional requirements into technical GIS solutions
Collaborate with stakeholders in Agile/Scrum environments
Support testing, debugging, and continuous improvement of GIS solutions
Required Skills & Experience
Experience in GIS systems development (junior level)
Experience with ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Desktop, Server, Online)
Experience with geodatabases in SQL Server
Experience setting up GIS data and geo-services
Knowledge of geocoding, raster/vector data formats, and data manipulation
Ability to write database queries for spatial data environments
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and serverless concepts
Experience with GIS solution architecture (functional to technical translation)
Experience with geoprocessing tools
Dutch language proficiency (CEFR level C2 – mandatory)
Nice to Have
Knowledge of VertiGIS
Experience with ETL tools (FME, Python, ArcPy)
Experience using APIs and base registers
Knowledge of Digitaal Vlaanderen services
Understanding of ITIL processes
Experience with GIS certifications
Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

About the Role Context
You will join a digital innovation unit focused on transforming environmental and nature-related operations through technology. The team works on initiatives such as digital services for stakeholders and smart nature solutions using technologies like IoT, AI, satellite imagery, and drones.
Additional Information
Minimum on-site presence: 1 day per week
Maximum 220 working days per year
Hybrid working model available
Full-time engagement (100%)
Assignment duration may be adjusted if necessary
