With bases in Bethel, Emmonak, Dillingham, King Salmon, Cold Bay, Dutch Harbor, Kenai, and Anchorage, Grant Aviation provides scheduled air transport of passengers, cargo, and mail, as well as air ambulance and charter service. Grant Aviation employs approximately 360 people.

We believe that air travel isn't a luxury - it's a necessity - and we are committed to creating a safe, friendly, and reliable experience for all our customers.

Our company is built upon respect for our customers, employees, and communities, and we constantly work to improve our operations to ensure smooth travel and enjoyable experiences. We are professional, while staying true to our Alaskan roots and commitment to the personal touch.

Position Summary As a Junior Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will work directly alongside Senior Facilities Technicians in the overall upkeep and maintenance of our stations across Alaska. Ranging from minor carpentry and routine repairs to preventative maintenance and larger facility projects, your work directly contributes to smooth daily flight and ground operations. Additionally, you will cross-train and assist our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team as needed with vehicle and heavy machinery repairs.

We are looking for a motivated, honest, and reliable technician who makes safety a priority.

This is a full-time, rotational position. While your work will take place on-site at our Alaskan facilities, you are not required to live in Alaska; candidates may reside anywhere in the United States and commute to their assigned station for their scheduled rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by strictly following all company and regulatory safety procedures and reporting hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Assist Senior Technicians in initiating and completing general facility repairs, including patching, painting, and repairing walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Install and repair doors, windows, baseboards, building insulation, and office furniture.
  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance on facility heating systems, including furnace and boiler units.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facility units and company housing to identify upkeep needs.
  • Assist the GSE maintenance team as needed with basic troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs on company vehicles, tugs, loaders, and heavy machinery.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, parts inventories, and purchasing records using company computer systems.

Ideally You Poses

  • Mechanical & Trade Aptitude: Eagerness to learn and perform repairs across multiple disciplines, including general construction, carpentry, basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC/boilers, and material handling equipment.
  • Tools & Fabrication: Proficiency in safely operating hand and power tools; basic knowledge of wood and metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Technical Reading: Abilty to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and basic electrical schematics.
  • Preventative Maintenance: A foundational understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) safety standards.
  • Computer Skills: Comfort utilizing computers to track inventory, log work, and communicate. Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a strong plus.
  • Customer Service: At least 1 year of customer service experience, with a positive, team-oriented attitude suitable for working and living in small, close-knit rural communities.
  • Driver's License: Must hold a current, valid Driver's License (applicants 25 years of age or older are preferred due to company insurance requirements).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This position requires significant physical activity, including climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive movement.

  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete, wet, or uneven surfaces for extended periods during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry parts and tools averaging 20 to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Strong eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation), and foot dexterity (operating foot pedals on machinery/vehicles).
  • Willingness to work in varied and challenging environments, including small or confined spaces, exposure to dust, fumes/odors, indoor/outdoor noise, vibration, and extreme hot or cold Alaskan weather conditions.

Your Perks:
