Job Description

Key Accountabilities & Role Requirements:

  • Support M&E aggregate and CAT processes — Assist with accurate end-to-end exposure and catastrophe-modelling capture across all Energy Classes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation — Keep all process, methodology, and modelling documentation current and precise.
  • Act as a cross-team liaison — Coordinate between Underwriting, CAT Modelling, and Exposure Management teams.
  • Prepare reporting materials — Support the creation of roll-ups, committee packs, exhibits, and event response analysis.
  • Conduct aggregate checks — Assess marginal account impacts against M&E metrics, tolerances, and portfolio constraints.
  • Contribute to portfolio optimisation — Work with Exposure Management to enhance portfolio performance and risk balance.
  • Validate model outputs — Review and confirm modelled loss results for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with underwriting assumptions.
  • Drive process efficiencies — Improve data-capture, validation, and reporting workflows.
  • Support regulatory returns — Assist with submissions related to M&E for Lloyd’s.
  • Produce committee exhibits — Support preparation of materials for governance and oversight committees.
  • Represent the business externally — Attend market forums, industry bodies, and conferences on behalf of Westfield.
  • Maintain industry awareness — Stay informed on developments in M&E insurance, Oil & Gas, and Renewable Energy.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential Experience

  • Strong Academic foundation - High-achieving school leaver, degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Interest in relevant industries - A genuine interest in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, or Maritime Industries.
  • Basic programming skills - Exposure to languages such as Python, SQL, or similar (academic or personal projects welcomed).
  • Excel skills - Confident using Excel for data analysis, including formulas, pivot tables, and large datasets.

Desirable Experience

  • Technical/analytical background - Studies or experience in engineering, mathematics, modelling, or a related field.
  • Exposure to insurance or financial services - Any experience in insurance markets or progress towards relevant qualifications is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Marine or Energy Insurance - Awareness or introductory experience in these areas is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with industry tools - Familiarity with any of the following would be an advantage:
    • Sequel Impact/Exposure Hub (or similar aggregation systems)
    • AIR Verisk or RMS Modelling.
    • GIS, Mapping Tools, BI Software (e.g. Spatial Key, Power BI)
