JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Attend customer inquiries over the phone and respond to e-mails/letters in a timely manner.
- Send invoices to the Customers as per the freight charges mentioned in the bookings and ensure recovery of charges according to Company Credit Policy.
- Generate files containing cargo/freight details from the principal’s system and download data to the local system for the purpose of calculating agency remuneration and preparing other finance and operational reports.
- Check inward Cargo Manifest for accuracy and find out special cargo, MALE T/S etc. and inform correct status of the cargo to operations department as well as Sri Lanka Customs.
- Report cargo manifests (manually & electronically) to Sri Lanka customs and ports authority/HIPG to meet local regulatory requirements and ensure smooth delivery of cargo to the local consignees.
- Inform cargo arrival information to customers and maintain accuracy of the charges invoiced.
- Update necessary information and close vessels in Logix system timely manner to generate monthly commission statements.
- Ensure timely, attentive and responsible communication with principals, ports/terminals, masters of vessels and customers in order to keep the standards.
- Perform additional duties commensurate with the current role, as and when requested by management.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
- Bachelor’s Degree approved by UGC or an equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience OR
- 6 passes with 'C' for Mathematics and English at the GCE O/Levels or London O/Levels AND
- Minimum 2 passes for A/L's OR successful completion of UGC approved A/L equivalent foundation course with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Customer Service in Shipping Industry.
- Excellent command of the English language.
