Job Description

Elements is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn construction estimating, grow their technical skills, and be part of a collaborative and supportive environment.

Elements was created to provide renovation services in live, occupied hospitality environments. Since our beginnings with local timeshare projects in the early 2000s, we have grown methodically into a national hospitality renovation firm serving hotels, timeshares, and senior living communities. Our work is relationship-driven, detail-focused, and built on trust, both with our clients and within our teams.

As a Junior Estimator, you will work closely with Senior Estimators and the Director of Estimating, supporting the full estimating process from project review to bid preparation and project handoff. You will be given hands-on exposure, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop at a steady pace while contributing meaningful work to the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior estimators in preparing accurate and timely bids
  • Review drawings, plans, and specifications to understand project scope
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and help build detailed cost breakdowns
  • Assist with preliminary budgets and early-stage estimates
  • Gather, organize, and log subcontractor and vendor proposals
  • Help review subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness and compliance
  • Maintain organized estimating files, job folders, and documentation
  • Participate in job walks and assist with collecting project information
  • Attend weekly estimating meetings and provide progress updates
  • Collaborate with team members to clarify scope, questions, and assumptions
  • Support project handoff when estimates are awarded
  • Assist with collecting and organizing cost data for labor, materials, and equipment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of experience in construction estimating or a related internship, coursework, or field experience
  • Ability (or willingness to learn) to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Interest in estimating software and construction technology
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to ask questions, learn from others, and take feedback
  • Ability to work respectfully with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams

Preferred Requirements

  • Degree or coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Exposure to hospitality, renovation, or occupied-environment projects
  • Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, MS Project, or estimating software
  • Interest in learning value engineering and cost-planning concepts
