About the Role

As a Junior Embedded Software & Cybersecurity Engineer, you will contribute to the development of secure embedded systems for railway fire detection and protection applications in safety-critical environments.

You will work closely with a senior embedded engineer with extensive experience in railway systems, TCMS communication, and cybersecurity, gaining strong hands-on exposure and structured technical mentorship.

The role combines embedded software development with cybersecurity engineering, focusing on:

  • Embedded cybersecurity implementation on Renesas microcontrollers with ThreadX RTOS, aligned with IEC/EN 62443-4-2

  • Secure railway system integration, including onboard TCMS communication using TRDP and related protocols

You will collaborate with R&D, systems, validation, and cybersecurity teams across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of cybersecurity functions in embedded RTOS-based systems

  • Assist in secure communication, authentication, and system integrity mechanisms

  • Contribute to software testing, debugging, and verification activities

  • Help implement cybersecurity requirements aligned with IEC/EN 62443-4-2

  • Support documentation, configuration management, and technical reporting

  • Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and lab testing

  • Analyze communication protocols and onboard network architectures

  • Requirements

Education
Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Technical Skills

  • Basic C programming for embedded systems

  • Understanding of microcontrollers and embedded architectures

  • Fundamentals of RTOS, TCP/IP, and embedded communication protocols

  • Interest in cybersecurity principles (authentication, secure communication, integrity, secure development)

Soft Skills

  • Analytical and structured problem-solving mindset

  • Clear communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong motivation to learn and develop technical expertise

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to ThreadX or other RTOS environments

  • Familiarity with industrial or railway communication systems

  • Awareness of IEC/EN 62443 or similar cybersecurity standards

  • Experience with Git/SVN

  • Basic use of debugging tools (oscilloscope, protocol analyzers, etc.)

  • Interest in safety-critical or railway systems
