Job Description

Junior Design Modeler

Location: Midland, ON

Reports to: Pre-Construction Manager, PrimeFab

Company: PrimeFab

Role Overview

The Junior Design Modeler builds 3D Revit models for PrimeFab's Prime Panel and Prime Wall product lines, turning architectural and structural drawings into the shop drawings our production floor runs on. You'll work closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and project leads, and train into SEMA, the specialized software that talks directly to our shop machines, once you're comfortable on the Revit side. Good work here means catching a design or dimension issue before it reaches the shop floor, not modeling through it and hoping someone else notices.

What We Offer

  • Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Full-time, on-site role at our Midland, ON PrimeFab facility
  • Hands-on training in SEMA, a specialized software only a handful of companies in Ontario use, on top of your Revit skills
  • A clear path to promotion into our Design Technician role as you take on more responsibility
  • Health benefits package
  • Direct mentorship from the Pre-Construction Manager and experienced designers, not a sink or swim start
  • Real project work from day one, not just support tasks
  • A stable, growing division within Triumph Group of Companies

What You Bring to the Table

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit (AutoCAD experience also considered, with a willingness to pick up Revit quickly)
  • Comfortable reading architectural and structural construction documents and blueprints
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar PDF markup tools is an asset
  • No SEMA experience required. We will train you on it once you are solid in Revit
  • Diploma or certificate in architectural technology, CAD or BIM, drafting, or a related design program (or equivalent hands on experience)

Attributes

  • You have a sharp eye for detail and will flag a problem the moment you spot it, instead of modeling through it and hoping someone else catches it.
  • You stay focused on your own scope of work and do not go off script into someone else's job.
  • You ask questions when something on a drawing does not add up, rather than guessing.
  • You want to grow into a more senior design role and are willing to put in the work to get there.
  • You take direction well from a small, hands-on team and adjust quickly as priorities shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build 3D Revit models for PrimeFab's Prime Panel and Prime Wall product lines based on architectural and structural drawings.
  • Flag design issues, conflicts, or unclear conditions on drawings before they reach production.
  • Convert finalized Revit models into shop drawings for the production floor.
  • Learn and apply SEMA to assign unique conditions and prepare files for the shop's cutting machines.
  • Coordinate with project leads to confirm dimensions, conditions, and project specific requirements.
  • Track and log time spent on modeling, coordination, and RFI related work by project.
  • Support the resolution of RFIs by reviewing drawings and providing accurate follow-up information.
  • Maintain organized model files, templates, and project documentation for future reference.
  • Review incoming consultant drawings for completeness and raise gaps that will slow down modeling.
  • Assist with day to day drafting and modeling tasks as workload requires, including during project spikes.
