The Junior Data Scientist will work in a big data environment to help us build and deliver secure AI-enabled solutions. In this role you will develop and maintain Python and SQL solutions (e.g., using Jupyter/Notebook, Streamlit, and Snowflake), support data exploration and predictive modeling, and help us implement generative AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
Support the development and maintenance of Python solutions in Jupyter/Notebook and Streamlit, using Snowflake for data storage and querying under guidance from senior team members.
Assist with designing, prototyping, and implementing AI-enabled capabilities (e.g., chatbots, code-assist/code-generation workflows) to meet program needs.
Help build and maintain evaluation datasets and metrics (e.g., accuracy, groundedness, hallucination checks) and contribute to model testing and quality validation.
Create simple data visualizations, dashboards, and analysis outputs to communicate findings and support decision-making.
Follow responsible AI practices throughout development and deployment, including transparency, fairness, robustness, explainability, and basic solution observability, escalating risks/issues as needed.
Stay current on emerging AI/ML and assistant technologies; share relevant updates, demos, or findings with the team.
Collaborate with an agile team of data scientists by completing assigned tasks, participating in ceremonies, documenting work, and iterating on analytics products.
Qualifications
US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust.
Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree with at least two (2) years of experience. Four (4) years of specialized experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
Advanced certifications can be used to substitute for experience.
Experience with Python and SQL
Experience with Python AI/ML libraries
Experience with common data science toolkits, such as pandas, NumPy etc.
Experience with code repository tools like GitHub is preferred
Exposure to Generative AI, NLP, and LLM is preferred
Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with analytics, application, and platform teams in an Agile environment
Prior experience with Center for Medicare Medicaid Services or other government agencies is a plus
