Role: Junior Cyber Security Analyst

Reports to: IT Security Manager

Location: Darlington

Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday: 2/3 days in the office. Oncall roat once fully trained

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 depending on experience

We're looking for a motivated and curious Junior Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and cyber security who is eager to develop their skills within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

You'll play an important role in helping to protect our systems, data and colleagues by monitoring security alerts, supporting security tools, investigating incidents and promoting security best practice across the business

What you’ll be doing:

• Monitor security alerts and escalate potential threats to ensure risks are identified and addressed promptly.
• Support the day-to-day operation of cyber security tools including endpoint protection, email security and SIEM platforms.
• Assist with vulnerability management activities, reviewing scan results and tracking remediation actions.
• Work closely with IT colleagues to investigate security incidents and strengthen security controls.
• Maintain security policies, procedures and documentation to support compliance and best practice.
• Contribute to security awareness initiatives and help promote a security-first culture.
• Manage workload effectively through ticketing systems, assigned tasks and security management tools.
• Act as a point of contact for security-related queries and escalations across the business.

• Someone with a genuine interest in IT and cyber security.
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to ask questions and learn from others.
• Organised, motivated and keen to develop new skills.
• Ability to follow processes and create clear documentation.
• Some exposure to IT support environments and security technologies such as anti-virus, web filtering or email security solutions.
• A flexible approach and positive attitude in a changing environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites when required.
