Job Description

Whilst working as a Junior Civil Engineer, individuals will provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering all aspects of the civil assets for stations, car parks, depots, tunnels, viaducts, system ancillary buildings, sub-stations, cutting embankments, signage and related ground level infrastructure for Keolis MHI Dubai Metro.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic

  1. Lead and give guidance to a few Civil teams and subcontractors to carry out all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications to civil assets.
  2. Plan and allocate resources to all aspects of maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis.
  3. Carry out maintenance activities out in field on safety critical problem of civil assets where required.
  4. Follow the appropriate procedures and work instructions for maintenance to ensure compliance with the requirements.
  5. Assist subordinates with the job familiarization and provide training and assessment where required.
  6. Assist the Civil Engineer’s in maintenance planning and program civil maintenance works.
  7. Provide guidance to Civil Team Leaders and Inspectors to maintain accurate records of civil maintenance work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
  8. Assist the Civil Engineer or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
  9. Conduct performance reviews, discipline and grievance for Civil Inspectors and Civil Team Leaders.
  10. Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
  11. Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
  12. Covering duties of Civil Engineers on leave.
  13. Attendance of internal and external Client or third-party meetings.
  14. Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Civil Manager.

Identify opportunities that promote a positive return on investment, either through efficiency, revenue generation or risk reduction.

Stakeholder / Customer

Work in partnership with other departmental staff to ensure synergies are developed and that the strategic business and maintenance plans are delivered.

Operational

  1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per procedure, work instruction and DM standards.
  2. Follow QHSE and PTW procedures and guidelines.
  3. Delivery of engineering and maintenance activity that is safe, properly governed, and that maintains risk as low as is reasonably practicable (ALARP).

Capability / People

  1. Perform and carry out other duties as instructed / directed by the Civil Engineer/Manager.
  2. Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and always ensure adherence to these requirements whilst in employment.
  3. Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge.
  4. Develop the Civil department staff, ensuring the appropriate skills and experience are present.
  5. in the team and there are a breadth and depth of knowledge that will support the unexpected, embedding development into team objectives.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Technical Competencies

  1. Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms to carry out the maintenance activities as required.
  2. Ability to compile technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
  3. Working knowledge of the strength of reinforced concrete, structural masonry and structural steel inspections, foundation testing, and corrosion studies.

Bachelor’s in civil engineering discipline or equivalent diploma

Experience

  1. Preferably with minimum of 1year relevant working experience in the inspection and maintenance of civil assets, such as civil maintenance works implementation and review.
  2. Preferably with 1 year of supervisory and management experience in supervising a team of Civil Inspectors to carry out the building and structural inspection activities and / or with minimum of 1 year working experience as Civil Team Leader to carry out maintenance activities.

  1. Fluent in English.
  2. Holder of valid UAE driver licence.
  3. Mult skills knowledge and hands on experience (Civil Activities) required.
  4. Experience in operating mobile boom, scaffolding etc.
  5. Computer literate with sound knowledge of the Microsoft.
