The Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior / Cadet Designer to join our team and develop a career in drafting and technical design. This role provides structured learning, close supervision, and hands‑on experience while supporting the delivery of technical documentation and drawings across projects. It is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who is keen to build strong technical and professional foundations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Drafting Support

  • Undertake design and drafting tasks of limited scope and complexity under close supervision.
  • Assist with schematic and production drawings to support project delivery.
  • Apply drafting and design standards, quality systems, and QA processes.
  • Use a range of basic drafting methods and techniques to solve problems.
  • Develop skills in CAD/CADD software and associated technical applications.
  • Research and apply relevant standards and guidelines as required.

Technical Input & Learning

  • Apply theoretical knowledge of drafting and design principles to interpret technical information.
  • Support tender and construction documentation through developing software and technical skills.
  • Contribute to technical tasks while learning from experienced drafters and designers.

Commercial & Professional Skills

  • Assist with meeting project deadlines and agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, take direction, and build professional capability within a team environment.

About You

  • Currently studying or willing to undertake a qualification in civil engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (preffered not required).

  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn technical standards and processes.

  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and an interest in building a technical career.
