Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Junior Buyer/Expeditor to join our Procurement team. This is a diversified supply chain role within Stantec that requires daily interaction with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and client representatives to support project delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Support the development and execution of procurement and contracting plans.
  • Support the procurement cycle, including preparation of RFx packages, clarifications, bid evaluations, and negotiation support.
  • Assist in implementing project sourcing strategies and issuing related RFx packages.
  • Apply a basic understanding of public-sector procurement requirements and how they relate to competitive sourcing processes.
  • Adhere to Stantec and client procurement procedures, standards, and governance requirements.
  • Perform day-to-day procurement and expediting activities in support of project requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly procurement and expediting status reports.
  • Create and maintain material management, tracking, and status reporting tools.
  • Maintain procurement schedules and milestone dates and provide timely updates to project teams and clients.
  • Execute procurement activities, including bidder selection, RFx issuance, bid evaluation support, purchase order administration, expediting, (materials and technical documentation) and logistics coordination.
  • Prepare procurement documentation, including bid summaries, commercial evaluations, purchase orders, and supplier correspondence.
  • Follow up with suppliers and contractors on material delivery, fabrication status, and technical documentation requirements.
  • Generate expediting reports, review status information, and analyze data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare shipping releases, coordinate delivery documentation, and support material receiving activities from site.
  • Support invoice management, verification, and attestation in accordance with project and client requirements.
  • Maintain historical records and archives for labour, equipment, and material purchases for future project reference.
  • Provide general project support and complete client-specific requirements as assigned.
  • Support compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain organized procurement files, records, and document control in accordance with project and company requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project controls, logistics, and finance teams to support timely procurement execution and issue resolution.
  • Assist with supplier prequalification activities, bid tabulations, and commercial reviews, as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong working knowledge of Excel.
  • Foundational knowledge of procurement, buying, and expediting principles.
  • Sound understanding of procurement practices, policies, and basic commercial terms.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, clients, and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal development and contributing to team and company success.
  • Open to coaching, feedback, and ongoing learning.
  • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and data management.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in an EPC or EPCM environment. PMAC certification, Expediting Management Association basic and advanced training, or progress toward certification is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typical office environment working with computers; Stantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working in the office and at home).
