The Junior (Intern) Business Analyst – Finance & Commercial Operations in Gauteng region for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for providing Sales and Business Analytics to Commercial Operations.

This position is part of the Commercial Sales Department located in Samrand, Gauteng.

Position overview:

The Junior Business Analyst – Finance & Commercial Operations will support Beckman Coulter Diagnostics' commercial and financial performance across Southern Africa. This role will provide analytical support to Finance, Sales, Service, Marketing, and Channel Management teams through financial reporting, sales analytics, CRM management, business intelligence, forecasting, and AI-enabled insights.

The successful candidate will help drive data-driven decision-making, improve operational efficiency, support revenue growth initiatives, and enhance customer engagement through effective use of analytics, CRM platforms, and modern AI tools.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
• Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Monitor revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability trends.
• Analyze product, customer, and territory performance.
• Support regional leadership with financial insights and business recommendations.
• Prepare reports for leadership reviews and business performance meetings.

Commercial & Sales Analytics

• Develop and maintain sales performance dashboards and KPI reports.
• Analyze funnel, pipelines, bookings, revenue, win rates, and forecasting accuracy.
• Identify growth opportunities across Diagnostics, Automation, Informatics, and Service portfolios.
• Support commercial strategy through market, customer, and competitive analysis.
• Monitor sales productivity and territory effectiveness.
• Assist with sales incentive and commission reporting.

CRM & Customer Insights

• Maintain CRM data quality, integrity, and governance.
• Support users of Salesforce, or equivalent
• Generate customer, account, and pipeline analytics.
• Monitor customer engagement metrics and sales activities.
• Drive CRM adoption and reporting improvements.
• Collaborate with Sales and Service teams to improve customer visibility and opportunity management.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and management reports.
• Consolidate data from CRM, service, and financial systems.
• Develop automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency.
• Ensure consistency of business metrics and KPIs across the region.
• Translate complex data into actionable business insights.

AI & Digital Transformation

• Utilize Microsoft Copilot and AI-powered analytics tools to improve reporting and decision-making.
• Automate repetitive reporting and administrative tasks using AI and Power Platform technologies.
• Apply AI-assisted forecasting and trend analysis techniques.
• Develop effective prompts and workflows to generate business insights from data.
• Ensure responsible and compliant use of AI in accordance with Danaher and Beckman Coulter policies.
• Support digital transformation initiatives across Finance and Commercial Operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Finance, Sales, Service, Marketing, Customer Support, Supply Chain, and Regional Leadership teams.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives using Danaher Business System (DBS) principles.
• Support strategic projects aimed at improving operational excellence and business performance.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Understanding computer hardware and composition and being computer literate.
• Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, data modelling, and reporting.
• Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Exposure to CRM systems, preferably Salesforce or an equivalent platform.
• Ability to interpret financial and commercial data and translate it into clear business insights and recommendations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present data clearly to finance, commercial, and leadership stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Basic understanding of AI-enabled productivity tools, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, or automation tools would be advantageous.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Professional proficiency in English

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Analytical / problem solving skills: able to analyze and understand complex issues and consequently develop plans to capture opportunities, avoid business and customer losses and to visualize customer disengagement trends to escalate to appropriate channels for follow up and resolution.

This job is also eligible for 10% on Target bonus/incentive pay.
