As the Junior Business Analyst, you will support the evaluation, improvement, and implementation of business processes and systems by partnering with stakeholders to understand operational needs, identify opportunities, and translate business requirements into actionable solutions.
This role combines research, analysis, problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to help ensure technology and process solutions align with business objectives. The Junior Business Analyst will assist with defining project scope, gathering and documenting requirements, evaluating business processes, supporting system enhancements, and helping stakeholders navigate changes from concept through implementation.
Success in this role requires curiosity, strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to build productive relationships across teams. ‖ Responsibilities Include:
- Learning and developing a strong understanding of business operations, stakeholder needs, organizational structures, workflows, systems, and requirements to ensure solutions effectively support business objectives.
- Partnering with business stakeholders, project managers, technical teams, and other cross-functional partners to clarify needs, define objectives, and align project deliverables with established requirements.
- Gathering business, functional, and user requirements through interviews, meetings, workshops, process reviews, research, observation, and other appropriate business-analysis techniques.
- Analyzing business processes, workflows, systems, and stakeholder feedback to identify inefficiencies, gaps, dependencies, risks, and opportunities for process or system improvement.
- Translating business needs and stakeholder expectations into clear, organized, and actionable requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria, process documentation, and system requirement specifications.
- Documenting current-state and future-state business processes, project requirements, decisions, assumptions, workflows, and supporting information to establish clear alignment among project stakeholders.
- Developing project and task scopes in collaboration with stakeholders by defining business needs, desired outcomes, requirements, dependencies, and success criteria.
- Evaluating proposed processes, system changes, and solutions against documented business requirements to help ensure deliverables address the intended business need.
- Providing input throughout solution design, development, testing, and implementation activities to help ensure business requirements are accurately understood and incorporated into final deliverables.
- Triaging reported issues, questions, and system concerns to determine potential causes, identify conflicts with documented requirements, and route matters to the appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
- Investigating business and system issues by engaging appropriate stakeholders, reviewing available information, and identifying contributing factors and potential root causes.
- Facilitating discussions among business and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, address competing priorities, and support informed decision-making.
- Challenging assumptions and critically evaluating requirements to help ensure proposed solutions address the underlying business need rather than only the immediate request.
- Negotiating requirements, priorities, and potential solutions with stakeholders while balancing business objectives, technical considerations, project scope, resource constraints, and operational impacts.
- Developing a working knowledge of assigned applications, platforms, business processes, and operational workflows through collaboration with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical partners.
- Supporting the evaluation of system capabilities, software functionality, operational requirements, processing considerations, and technical limitations when assessing potential solutions.
- Contributing actively to project and development teams by providing business context, clarifying requirements, participating in planning discussions, and supporting successful completion of project deliverables.
- Collaborating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to validate requirements, communicate updates, address questions, and maintain alignment as business needs or project conditions evolve.
- Participating in solution testing, user acceptance activities, implementation planning, and post-implementation review to help confirm solutions meet established business requirements and intended outcomes.
- Communicating complex business needs, requirements, issues, and recommendations in a clear and accessible manner appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Building trusted stakeholder relationships by demonstrating responsiveness, professionalism, accountability, transparency, and a consistent commitment to understanding business needs.
- Anticipating stakeholder questions, project dependencies, and potential implementation challenges and proactively escalating risks or concerns when additional guidance or decision-making is needed.
- Striving to exceed stakeholder expectations by listening actively, communicating clearly, following through on commitments, and helping identify practical solutions that deliver meaningful business value.
- Maintaining accurate and organized project documentation, requirements, notes, decisions, and supporting materials in accordance with established project and organizational practices.
- Adapting to changing business priorities, project requirements, technologies, and stakeholder needs while maintaining attention to quality, timelines, and organizational objectives.

- Performing other projects, responsibilities, and duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational priorities.
‖ Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, business administration, project management or a closely related field of study.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a program analyst, infrastructure analyst and/or business analyst function.
- Prior experience working with technology equipment, software and web applications; preferably in an educational or clinical setting.
- Prior experience and/or knowledge of SQL, statistics, web analytics tools and experiment design.
- Proficient in reading, writing, analyzing and interpreting professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.
- Highly skilled in the drafting of detailed reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, research abstracts and articles.
- History of success building credibility, effectively managing multiple projects and collaborating across all organizational levels.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executives, operational leadership, staff members, external partners, and the public.
- Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
- Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, basic office equipment, and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
