Health Systems Junior Business Analyst

The Health Systems Junior Business Analyst supports the analysis, testing, and implementation of technology solutions within the Health Systems environment. The role works closely with Senior Business Analysts and the Health Systems Team Lead to translate business requirements into functional specifications, execute testing, document processes, and support business and operational initiatives.

This role is designed to develop strong business analysis capability within the healthcare technology environment while providing support across strategic projects, business-as-usual (BAU) enhancements, and production support activities.

The Health Systems Junior Business Analyst will be responsible for:

Business Analysis & Documentation

  • Gather and document business requirements under the guidance of Business Analysts and Team Lead.
  • Assist in preparing Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), Business Requirement Specifications (BRS), user stories, and process documentation.
  • Document business processes, workflows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support process mapping and business rule documentation.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Design and execute test cases based on business requirements.
  • Perform system, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Log, track, and retest defects until resolution.
  • Validate implemented solutions against agreed business requirements.

Project & BAU Support

  • Support the delivery of strategic projects and BAU system enhancements.
  • Assist with production support investigations and issue analysis.
  • Monitor and follow up on assigned tasks and project deliverables.
  • Participate in release validation and post-implementation testing.

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse operational data to identify trends, exceptions, and potential system improvements.
  • Assist with SQL queries and data validation activities.
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards where required.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with business users, technology teams, and external partners during analysis and testing activities.
  • Participate in workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and daily project meetings.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and testing outcomes clearly and professionally.

Qualifications

PERSON DETAILS: WORK EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED – Essential Experience

  • 1–3 years' experience in Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or a healthcare technology environment.
  • Exposure to the Medical Aid or Medical Insurance industry.
  • Experience documenting business and functional requirements.
  • Experience performing system testing and defect validation.
  • Experience working with business users and technology teams.

Advantageous

  • Experience working with the MIP Medical Aid/Medical Insurance Administration System (CRM and Administration modules).
  • Exposure to healthcare claims, membership, provider, or wellness administration systems.
  • Exposure to Agile or Waterfall project delivery methodologies.

EDUCATION: QUALIFICATIONS: ACCREDITATIONS WITH PROFESSIONAL BODY

REQUIRED

  • Business Analysis certification (IIBA, FTI, or equivalent).

Preferred

  • Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • SQL or database-related training.

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Requirements gathering and documentation.
  • Test case design and execution.
  • Process documentation and business process mapping.

Advantageous

  • JIRA or similar work management tools.
