In the role of Junior Breeder – Sonipat, you will contribute to both the cucumber and pumpkin breeding programs, with ample opportunities to learn, experiment, and innovate.
Make a difference as a Junior Breeder
As a Junior Breeder, you will play an important role in planning all activities of the breeding project for Cucumber and Pumpkin crops at our R&D base at Sonipat.
You will work on making the right plant and line selections on critical moments in the breeding cycle and contribute to the evaluation of crop traits necessary for successful breeding. You will collaborate with the senior breeder, and work on obtaining the necessary knowledge and skills
In this role, your work will include:
Development of knowledge and skills to be able to plan all activities of a breeding project: Translation of the set Breeding targets into an operational breeding plan.
Development of knowledge and skills to be able to execute the activities of a breeding project.
Development of knowledge and skills to be able to maintain detailed records throughout the breeding cycles.
Development of knowledge and skills to be able to make decisions to advance material to R2 and planning of trial productions and screening trials.
Development of knowledge and skills to handover R3 material to Seed Production according to the defined specifications and register in the designated system (currently Varmas).
Development of knowledge and skills to be able to implement developed technology and traits in the breeding program.
What you bring as our future colleague
As a Junior Breeder, you bring efficiency in planning and executing breeding experiments. You can coordinate external breeding and screening trials effectively, along with strong data management skills to support the Breeder/Senior Breeder in achieving successful crop evaluations and selections.
In addition, you possess the following:
A Master’s degree in Agriculture with specialization in Genetics & Plant Breeding, along with a minimum of 1 year of relevant practical experience
Strong analytical and observational skills to interpret complex genetic and environmental data
A genuine passion for crop breeding and trial evaluation
A scientific and research-oriented mindset
Curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, with a willingness to develop, collaborate, and innovate
Readiness to work at the Sonipat location
