We help leading brands—like Volkswagen, Volvo, and Jaguar Land Rover—innovate, enhance mobility, and accelerate their digital transformation. Join us and shape the next era of automotive technology!

We are looking for a Junior Backend Software Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to join our cross-functional DevOps team. In this role, you will contribute to developing, testing, and maintaining reliable backend software supporting our connected vehicle and digital mobility solutions. You will work with technologies such as Java, AWS, microservices, CI/CD, and Kubernetes, while continuing to build your technical knowledge and understanding of our systems.

You will work closely with experienced engineers and other team members in an Agile environment. You will take responsibility for well-defined tasks and gradually build greater confidence and independence in your technical work.

Here’s what you’ll focus on

  • Develop, test, and maintain software components according to requirements, coding standards, and established engineering practices.
  • Implement well-defined features, improvements, and bug fixes with guidance from experienced engineers when needed.
  • Write unit tests using JUnit and apply basic Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles.
  • Follow established quality, security, coding, and development practices.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, planning, retrospectives, and other Agile team ceremonies.
  • Use Git effectively in a collaborative, team-based development environment.
  • Contribute to backend services running on AWS and develop your understanding of cloud-based solutions.
  • Work with microservices-based architectures and build an understanding of service interactions and APIs.
  • Gain practical experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines used for building, testing, and deploying applications.
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers clearly and early.
  • Take responsibility for assigned tasks from start to completion.
  • Work collaboratively with developers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot issues and contribute to resolving problems with support from the team.
  • Continuously build your understanding of the system, development practices, and engineering standards.

We believe that you bring

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in backend software development or a related software engineering role.
  • Practical experience with Java and backend development.
  • Hands-on experience with JUnit, unit testing, and basic TDD principles.
  • Experience using Git in a collaborative development environment.
  • Hands-on experience with a cloud platform, preferably AWS.
  • Experience or understanding of microservices-based architectures.
  • Basic familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying applications.
  • Knowledge of Python or Golang is an advantage.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, such as Scrum or SAFe.
  • Good understanding of software quality, security, maintainability, and coding practices.
  • Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks while knowing when to seek guidance and support.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with global, distributed, or diverse teams is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
