The Opportunity
Build the Future with Us – This is your chance to support meaningful heritage projects across British Columbia that protect cultural resources and strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities.
The Junior Archaeologist will work closely with our province‑wide Heritage group, contributing to the success of archaeological projects across the region. You will gain valuable and diverse field and analytical experience, with opportunities to support multidisciplinary project teams that will help drive your professional growth. The successful candidate will ideally be based in one of our Lower Mainland offices, supporting work throughout the province.
Your Impact
Carry out archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring in accordance with the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA), permit requirements, and guidance from senior field supervisors.
Contribute to respectful and collaborative engagement with Indigenous communities throughout project work.
Support field programs in a range of environments, including rugged terrain, semi‑remote locations, and all‑weather conditions.
Assist with artifact processing, documentation, reporting, and research tasks that strengthen the integrity and impact of project deliverables.
Apply WSP’s “Safety First” approach by actively participating in health and safety programs and promoting safe field practices.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Basic knowledge of British Columbia archaeology would be an asset
Ability to do strenuous field work, including hiking in uneven terrain, carrying heavy loads and manual excavating
You value meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities and demonstrate cultural awareness, integrity, and professionalism.
You thrive in team‑based field environments and can take direction effectively while growing your technical experience.
You hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence; first aid or safety certifications are an asset, with required training provided.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 – $79,600
MB & ON: $54,800 – $75,400
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
