Job Description

Junior Application Engineer

Location: Casalpusterlengo plant - hybrid model ( at least 2 days on site)

The role

You’ll support both sides of the engineering lifecycle. One minute you’re helping shape a concept for a customer proposal; the next you’re producing drawings that manufacturing teams actually rely on.

It’s not just CAD work, and it’s not just theory. You’ll get exposure to real projects, real constraints, and occasionally real sites (hard hat included).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Support customer discussions by gathering technical requirements and understanding application conditions
  • Assist with feasibility studies and solution selection (performance, cost, manufacturability)
  • Create 3D models in Inventor and 2D drawings in AutoCAD
  • Produce engineering deliverables – BOMs, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
  • Turn concept designs into fully released, build-ready drawings and documentation
  • Support engineering changes (ECR/ECO) and keep documentation accurate and traceable
  • Work with Project Managers to track risks, resolve issues, and keep projects moving
  • Get involved in troubleshooting during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
  • Support on-site supervision activities globally when required
  • Help improve templates, standards, and ways of working (not just follow them blindly)

Qualifications

About you / what you’ll bring

  • A degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering (or similar) – or equivalent practical experience
  • Up to 3 years’ experience in application or design engineering (internships count)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools – ideally Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD
  • A basic understanding of industrial processes, or the curiosity to learn fast
  • Experience (or exposure) to translating customer needs into technical solutions
  • A structured approach to problem-solving – you like figuring things out, not guessing
  • Good communication skills – you can explain things clearly without overcomplicating them
  • Attention to detail, especially when it comes to drawings and documentation
  • A team-first mindset – open to feedback, willing to learn, and easy to work with
  • Comfortable working in English; other European languages are a bonus
  • A bit of resilience – projects change, things move quickly, and that’s part of the job

Nice to have

  • Exposure to high-temperature materials, insulation, or refractory applications
  • Experience working with manufacturing or operations teams
  • Familiarity with BOMs, engineering documentation, or change control processes
  • Basic root cause analysis/problem-solving tools

What you’ll get

  • Full exposure to the engineering lifecycle – from concept through to site installation
  • Hands-on experience early in your career (not just shadowing others)
  • Support from experienced engineers who’ll help you develop properly
  • International project exposure, including site work
  • A straightforward, practical engineering environment – focused on getting things right
