POSITION: Junior Analyst

JOB GRADING: C – Lower

DEPARTMENT: Protection Services

SITE: South Deep Gold Mine

The Assistant Officer: Security Analysis is responsible for collecting, collating, and categorising crime and security-related information, as well as compiling departmental intelligence reports. This role supports security operations by highlighting potential trends, risks, and vulnerabilities and escalating these to assigned investigation teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • National Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Office Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in security analysis, intelligence or a related environment
  • Experience with analytical tools such as iBase, Analyst’s Notebook or similar systems
  • Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Key Competencies:

  • Proven track record in personal safety management
  • Proven interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
  • Experience in collecting and categorising security-related data to highlight trends, patterns, anomalies and potential risks
  • Knowledge of data management principles and compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA)
  • Experience in compiling and analysing detailed reports, dashboards and visual presentations with elevated attention to detail
  • Ability to execute tasks according to defined timelines and operational requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all safety, health, environment and risk management campaigns
  • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
  • Actively support the company’s strategies and initiatives to promote a respectful, diverse and inclusive workplace with a culture of accountability and care
  • Collect, capture and maintain security-related data within departmental systems
  • Categorise crime, incident and intelligence data to highlight trends and risks
  • Compile and present accurate and timely intelligence and departmental reports
  • Conduct quality control checks on data and ensure database integrity
  • Support investigations by providing relevant reports and information
  • Assist with financial administration activities including SAP capturing and budget monitoring
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to collate relevant information for reporting purposes
  • Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting and analytical processes
