Job Description

About Texas Research International (TRI)

Texas Research International is a mission-driven, employee-owned organization headquartered on a scenic hill-country campus in West Austin. We operate 13 diverse subsidiaries focused on R&D, testing, and materials science. We are looking for a proactive technical professional who thrives at the intersection of business processes, enterprise software, and emerging AI technologies.

The Role

We are not looking for a developer who wants to hide behind code. We need a Functional Technologist—an Acumatica ERP System Administrator & AI Solutions Analyst who enjoys solving puzzles and working directly with the people who use the systems.

You will be the bridge between our technical infrastructure and our business users (scientists, finance teams, and project managers). Your goal is to ensure our Acumatica ERP platform runs smoothly across all 13 entities while helping us build out the data pipelines and AI tools that drive our next generation of research.

Key Responsibilities

  • ERP Administration: Serve as the primary point of contact for Acumatica, managing configurations, user setup, and functional support for financials, project accounting, and multi-entity operations.
  • Business Process Partnership: Work directly with business users to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize workflows. You will translate "what the business needs" into "how the system works."
  • AI & Automation: Maintain and support practical AI/ML solutions, including Python-based data pipelines and automation scripts that drive operational impact.
  • System Integration: Manage APIs and integrations between Acumatica and internal lab systems (LIMS) or external platforms.
  • Business Intelligence: Create custom reports, SQL queries, and visual dashboards to provide leadership with actionable data.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • ERP Experience: 1–3+ years of experience with mid-sized ERP systems (Acumatica, NetSuite, Dynamics, or similar). Hands-on Acumatica experience is a significant plus.
  • Functional Knowledge: A solid understanding of accounting and finance concepts—you need to understand how the business "flows."
  • User-Centric Mindset: You enjoy working with people, gathering requirements, and providing hands-on support.
  • Data Proficiency: Strong background in SQL and relational databases.
  • Technical Foundation: Proficiency in Python and exposure to integrations/APIs (REST/SOAP).
  • Ownership Mentality: You are proactive, self-motivated, and take pride in owning a system’s success.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.

Why Join Us?

  • Compensation: Competitive base salary ($95k–$125k) + 5–10% performance bonus.
  • Professional Growth: We provide full reimbursement for Acumatica certifications and ongoing AI/ML training.
  • The Environment: Work from our beautiful West Austin campus with easy access to Lakeway and the Hill Country.
  • The Mission: Contribute to groundbreaking R&D work in a stable, employee-owned company.
