The Client is a U.S.-based IT services company headquartered in New York. They provide managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, networking, and other technology services to growing businesses. They work with companies across different industries, including some well-known brands. Their role is essentially to act as an extension of their clients' IT teams and make sure their technology is reliable, secure, and supports their business operations.

About the Role

The Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization. This role assists with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end close process.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop a strong foundation in accounting and finance.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Operations

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Process invoices, expense reports, payments, and other financial transactions.
• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries.
• Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.

Month-End Close and Reporting

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with the preparation of financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Help ensure transactions are properly recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

Financial Support and Analysis

• Assist with budget and forecast preparation as needed.
• Support variance analysis and basic financial reporting.
• Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
• Provide financial and administrative support to the accounting and finance team.

Compliance and Controls

• Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Maintain documentation needed for audits and other compliance requirements.
• Assist with requests from external auditors, management, and other stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-4 years of US accounting or finance experience.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Professional judgment and the ability to handle confidential financial information.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Quickbooks, Ramp, Avalara, and Halo.
• Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close.
• Knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
