Junior Bookkeeper, Paarl ,Western Cape, R15,000 CTC-R18,000 CTC

Department: Finance / Accounts

Reports To: Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Manager

Role Purpose

Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper to join the finance team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, capturing transactions, and assisting with VAT and month-end tasks. It's a perfect fit for someone with a solid grounding in finance and a proactive attitude toward learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Record financial transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, and payments)
• Reconcile bank accounts and internal ledgers
• Manage petty cash and staff expense claims
• Process supplier invoices and handle payments
• Assist in preparing VAT submissions
• Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records
• Support month-end and year-end reporting procedures
• Provide ad-hoc assistance to the Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Manager

Requirements:

• Matric with Accounting (required)
• A certificate or diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (advantageous)
• Studying towards or interested in pursuing a financial qualification (e.g., SAIPA, ICB) is a bonus
• 1-2 years in a bookkeeping or accounting support role (preferred)
• 1-2 years Payroll expereince
• Familiarity with accounting platforms like Xero, Sage, or Pastel (advantageous)
• Prior exposure to a small or medium-sized business environment is a plus
• Solid understanding of fundamental bookkeeping principles
• Strong numerical and analytical capabilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Well-organised with the ability to meet deadlines
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
• Able to work independently and within a team
