Cummings Electrical is hiring a Jr Panel Designer/CAD Technician for our Integrated Manufacturing facility in Arlington, TX.

Cummings Electrical is expanding our Integrated Manufacturing team. We design and build custom, integrated, modular systems such as e-houses, electrical skids, HAC’s and UL 508A panels for a wide range of projects, including data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial plants, and more.

As part of our team, you will work hands-on in a fast-paced, innovative environment, helping reduce jobsite risks, accelerate project timelines, and deliver high-quality solutions. If you are looking for growth, meaningful work, and a chance to be part of a team shaping the future of off-site integration and manufacturing, this is the place to make an impact.

  • The Junior Panel Designer/CAD Technician supports the design, development, and documentation of industrial electrical control panels by creating, modifying, and maintaining electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and associated project documentation.
  • This is a junior-level technical design position requiring previous CAD experience, a minimum of two years of industrial controls experience, and working knowledge of UL 508A standards. The position requires a practical understanding of control panel components, construction, and electrical drawing practices, with the ability to complete assigned drafting and documentation tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Create and modify panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and terminal drawings from sketches, markups, and design instructions.
  • Incorporate engineering changes, component substitutions, production redlines, and as-built conditions into drawings.
  • Create, revise, and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and associated design documentation.
  • Maintain drawing templates, electrical symbols, component libraries, drawing standards, and organized CAD project folders.
  • Prepare and issue accurate drawing packages for manufacturing; manage revision tracking and document control.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Panel Designer and shop personnel to resolve drawing questions and documentation discrepancies.
  • Support quality control through drawing corrections, labeling information, and UL 508A documentation when required.
  • Assist with developing standardized drawings and improving drawing consistency and efficiency.
  • Communicate missing information, potential design concerns, and schedule-impacting issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical controls, control panel design, panel manufacturing, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or comparable CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of UL 508A standards and their application to industrial control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, power supplies, and related components.
  • Experience incorporating drawing redlines, preparing revisions, and maintaining accurate BOMs and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and ability to meet assigned priorities.
