Location: Mississauga, ON (onsite)

Pay Range: $22-$24 per hour
Vacancy Type: Co-op Position
Schedule: Full-time, Day shift
Relocation: Not Applicable
Travel: Minimal


As our next Jr. Engineering Specialist (Co-op), you will assist Metallurgists in the development of new materials and processes in support of business development initiatives at multiple facilities. The position requires creativity, flexibility and innovation to resolve issues through the use of internal and external resources combined with the gathering and analysis of data.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Active participation in the development of processes, components and equipment selection

  • Assess the physical structure and properties of various materials used in the different products

  • Produce reports summarizing results, observations and recommendations

  • Provide assistance in the processing of prototypes, conduct trials including the collection, analysis and presentation of data to the project team

  • Develop Standard Work Instructions (SWI)

  • Communicates with the department on a regular basis to keep them well informed of the progress of various tasks and projects

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by raising concerns and propose solutions

  • Lead specific projects where required

  • Work in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and HSE policies and procedures

  • Works in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001

  • All other duties as assigned


What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Third or Fourth Year Engineering student within a Materials discipline

Technical & Skill Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of metallurgical preparation procedures

  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Good organizational and documentation skills

  • Able to identify, analyze and solve problems

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and graphing)

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
